21 year-old Dusty McCellen was pronounced dead at the West Penn Burn Center on Monday after suffering 3rd degree burns in a structure fire.
The fire occurred just a little after 5 a.m. at the Towne House West Motor Lodge off route 50. Witnesses say the fire started on the west end of the complex and in just minutes jumped the fire wall to engulf the next section in flames as well. Due to the severity of the damage, officials could not pinpoint the origin or cause of the fire.
While many of the occupants of the motel are from the area have places to stay with family members, Red Cross officials are working diligently to help those from out of state who are now displaced. The Fire Marshal is asking that if anyone may have seen or know anything about the fire to please call 1-800-233-FIRE.
If you or someone you know has been injured or even killed in an accident similar to this, contact a wrongful death lawyer immediately. Unfortunately it is too late for Mr. McCellen, but it is important to hold premises liable for the safety of their occupants and visitors in an effort to make sure incidents like this do not happen again.
