Distracted Driving Accidents in West Virginia
Driver distraction is becoming a bigger and bigger problem here in West Virginia and nationwide. Distracted drivers cause a lot of serious car accidents. Cell phone use is one of the worst offenders and likely the most commonly reported factor in related crashes. Statistics show that drivers who are not paying attention cause almost 26 percent of all crashes in West Virginia, with cell phone use being tied for the most common reason for distracted driving crashes across the state. Other things done while driving, like eating, drinking, and smoking, are also common across West Virginia, contributing to serious crashes. At highway speeds, it’s easy to travel the length of a football field in the time it takes to send one text message.
