Car Crashes in West Virginia
There are too many deaths and injuries in West Virginia every year from serious car accidents. Every day, we have to drive to get where we need to go. The state had 281 car crash deaths in 2021. In that year, 1,572 people died on the state’s roads for every 100 million miles driven. Every year for the past five years, there have been about 20.56 deaths for every 100,000 people. In West Virginia last year, 906 people were badly hurt in car accidents. Across the state, nearly three times as many people die on country roads as on highways.
