Cross Lanes, WV (March 12, 2025) – On Monday, March 10, a truck driver was killed and another person was hurt after a two-vehicle crash in Cross Lanes. The fatal accident took place on Interstate 64 EB near mile marker 49 between the Cross Lanes and Institute exits late that night at around 8:40 p.m. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary aid to the involved parties. 

The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were present. A commercial truck reportedly collided with a passenger car. The semi-truck reportedly merged lanes and hit the other vehicle, pinning it against the wall of the highway. The passenger car disengaged and caught fire, while the truck continued and veered across the highway where it hit a guardrail and overturned. The operator of the semi-truck suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the passenger car was hospitalized by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
