Distracted Driving Crashes in West Virginia
All over the country, including here in West Virginia, driver attention is becoming a bigger and bigger problem. Distracted drivers cause a lot of major accidents. Cell phone use is one of the worst offenders. Statistics show that drivers who are not paying attention cause almost 26 percent of all car crashes in West Virginia. Cell phone use was tied for the most common reason for a distracted driving crash across the state. Other things done while driving, like eating, drinking, and smoking, are also too common. At highway speeds, it’s easy to go the length of a football field in the time it takes to send one text message.
