Petersburg, WV (March 15, 2025) – A four-year-old boy was killed and others injured after a crash involving an all-terrain vehicle in the Petersburg area on Wednesday, March 12. The deadly accident was reported in Grant County late that night at around 7:15 p.m. It was later revealed that three juveniles were riding a 2023 Can-Am Defender ATV when it crashed. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. All three juveniles were rushed to a local hospital, with the four-year-old in critical condition. Despite life-saving aid from attending medical personnel, the victim was later pronounced dead at Grant Memorial Hospital. The name of the deceased party has been withheld. No updates on the conditions of the other parties have been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
